Instruction: Reply and I'll give you a letter! With this letter, you will gain access to the Supreme HQ... er, I mean,
you have to find five songs that start with said letter and post them to your journal.
WXKat inflicted me with the letter "M", because I was a smartypants and pointed out that "meme" was pronounced "maymay",
not "meemee" as he seemed to imply in the following joke title: "Do re meme". Serves me right.
Okay, "M" songs...
M12 Milky Way by Model 500 (aka Juan Atkins, one of the founding fathers of Detroit Techno), from "Deep Space".
I kinda cheated with that one, since every song title on the album starts with M##, emulating galaxy names.
It's a damn fine piece of Detroit Techno though, which is my favorite music genre.
(Technosoul, Electrosoul, a little like House Music but funkier and futuristic.)
Myopia by Plaid, from "Not For Threes". Plaid is Ed and Andy, who used to be part of Black Dog Productions with Kevin.
There was a disagreement and Ed And Andy left Kevin. Both Plaid and Black Dog Productions have released some of my favorite
tunes, featuring their signature style of neo Ancient Egyptian synchopated techno. It's hard to describe. I love it.
This track is actually different in style, as it features synthetic steel drums and a distinctly tropical vibe.
Music Non Stop by Kraftwerk, from various albums. "Boing, boom-tschak!"
Yes, those guys. I love those guys. Technopop at its very finest.
March Of The Cybermen by Buckfunk 3000 (aka Simon Begg), from "First Class Ticket To Telos".
This track is a spastic mechanical march complete with heavy robotic breathing fore and aft.
Cybermen are Dr. Who bad guys. Telos is their home planet. There are cybermen on the album cover.
That's not why I bought the album though. I was familiar with the artist's style beforehand.
Mother Stands For Comfort by Kate Bush, from "Hounds Of Love", because I'm not all machine and silicon.
I've loved Kate Bush since her first album, eventhough I didn't understand English. The music and her voice was enough.
After moving to the US, I purchased all her albums on CDs and LISTENED to them, and UNDERSTOOD them. I was blown away.
I recommend checking her out, and "Hounds Of Love" is not a bad starting point.
