Well, as you know, musical taste is highly personal. I like a lot of electronic music, both melodic and breakdancing robot-style. Plaid somehow manages to sound like Ancient Egyptian Techno, at least most of the early stuff as "Black Dog". High-pitched flute-like sounds, oddly syncopated beats, sometimes like Bellydance Music From Spaaaaaaaace! And then sometimes, it's just pretty and melancholic. And sometimes it's creepy and disturbing. Whomever said techno has no soul hasn't heard half the things I've heard.
If we ever get together on a weekend, I'll bring my laptop and play you some Black Dog and Plaid. I ripped all those CDs to the laptop's iTunes so I could have my Black Dog/Plaid fix at work.
