Random (Friday): Bug 928

Wow, I got totally confused.
I forgot to do a Random for Friday, then I posted a Random for Saturday in the wee hours of Sunday.
And now, it's the wee hours of Monday and I didn't post a Random for Sunday!
Ack gack phffftt!!

Awright, time to fix dis!
Here's Friday's Random:

It's a nicely customized WV Beetle with a rollcage and some kickin' racing accessories.
And what I find amusing is that it's sporting Porsche 928 rims. Yes, they have Porsche logos on them.
I remember when the 928 first came out, because I liked it a lot, and I thought the rims were really cool.
I had never seen nifty rims like these before. We're talking 1978 here! Waaaaaaay before bling bling dubs!
I don't remember the rims being THIS SHINY though...

I love VW/Porche hybrids. Owned one as my first car.

Oh dude, Vwvortex.com guys LOVE their Porsche phone dials. Also, those spiraly 90's 911 wheels.

There was a slammed VW microbus with a Porsche 911 engine and suspension in the Gumball 3000 one year. ^^

That sounds like a whole lotta fun!

Hey, have you seen last year's Hot Wheels VW Microbus?
It's called "Qombi" and it looks like this (http://content.luxology.com/gallery/a58b5cc849a1ea0cecf08e113624a757.jpg).
I wish they made those for real.

I designed one of those once (Full custom job), not sure if it ever got built, I highly doubted due to the monsterous "do it yourself" price tag.

You know them thar Veedubs with only 230 horsepower have enough to yank both front wheels off the ground rather violently and rip down a track so fast it takes two seconds for your sphincter to catch up.
Throw in a turbo Porsche engine in with even the most moderate modifications and you have a real street terror that is almost frighteningly street friendly. If the engines were just easier to come across...
People really don't treet those Veedubs with enough respect. That one there in particular is very nicely done. It's mild enough to trick some kid in his Honda Civic into a race just to blow his doors off in front of his girlfriend and yet those who know what to look for will know not to mess with it.
