PAIN!!! Courtesy of YouTube

This is really quite painful.
It's a promo from 1989 for a proposed US cartoon show called "Doozy Bots".
It's sooooo PC!!!
("How PC is it?!?!")
It's so PC that it's got 1) a black kid - 2) in a wheelchair - 3) who turns into a tank robot.
Actually, those robots look pretty familiar, pretty GUNDAMned familiar even.

THE PAIN STARTS HERE!

Sandy Frank must have been involved somehow!

Tokenism at its very best.

Had it been a black girl in a wheelchair that would have been even better.

That's straight-up Super Deformed Gundam (check the "animation works" section). The marketing is flat-out ridiculous, though. :)

I think I just heard a Care Bear vomiting in a corner somewhere.

Wow... It is very concievable that some TV execs watching this probably had seen gundum and just were as throwie uppie as Sleepy Bear back there...

Just... ugh. A look at how Life Was Better. .... I am willing to say that we probably were saved by Saved By The Bell.

... which I am sure in some weird twist of Quantum Energy, we're all thankful for.

A buddhist black girl.

I'm not sure if that's better or worse than the proposed US mixed live action/animated version of Sailor Moon, but seriously painful either way. (And as someone pointed out in the comments, notice how the guy in the wheelchair winds up as the 'bot with the caterpillar tracks?)

It almost ranks up there with Smurfs bad. :)
