Comcast must die!!
Destroy all Comcast!
Comcast (formerly AT&T Broadband, aka The Death Star Logo Company) is my telephone provider.
Why? Because they gave me a good deal on 2 phone lines way back when.
They're starting to seriously piss me off though, so I'm going to shop around for an alternative.
They cut off my phone on Friday because of an overdue bill.
Fine, I went in on Saturday to put it, and the phone was back on at 5pm that day.
No problem.
Yesterday (Monday), my phones stopped working, again.
I called them up, they said "oh, we don't know what's wrong, everything looks good from this end". Well, double-check Brenda! 'Cuz my freakin' phones ain't working!!
And my phones have been out ever since.
This just in!
As of 13:44 Pacific Time, my phones are working again! Hurrah!
I'm still gonna shop for an alternative.
I'm paying $60/Month for 2 lines, and a friend of mine says SBC has a deal for one phone line and one DSL line for something like $70. That would be worth it, since I only use the second line for dial-up Internet access, pretty much. Must investigate...
So, anyway, this entry is being done from work, during my lunch hour.
Here's a quick recap of what I've done over the past few days...
Friday: went to work. Home phones stopped working.
Saturday: went to Comcast, paid overdue bill. Worked on t-shirt designs for the new clothing line my brother and I are creating. Can't talk about it, it's all very early and hush-hush.
Waited for phones to come back on. Once, they came on, caught up on Web stuff.
Watched "Gangs Of New York" on DVD while waiting for a couple of friends to show up.
Went to Barnes And Noble at The Grove with them. Got stopped in my tracks by the sight of a tabloid-sized book of The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe, with illustrations by Gustave Doré.
Hmmmmmmmm, exquisite death...
Then went to Swingers for some rockin' food. Turkey meatloaf sandwich, yum!!
Then went home and waved goodbye to my friends.
Sunday: Spent time wondering why my friend wasn't calling me to help him move.
Went to Rhino Records to trade in some CDs and accidentally locked myself out of the Buckmobile (formerly The $1-Car). THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE! EVER!!
Call the bro and asked to come over with the spare car key.
Browsed comics in the Golden Apple Comics section within the Rhino Records store.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm, Alex Ross...
Hmmmmmmmmmmm, Paul Dini-scripted and Bruce Timm-drawn Batman comics...
Eventually, the bro showed up and he drove me straight to my friend's new pad.
It's nifty-ass! It's an older style two-story apartment house, and the 2nd story is soooooo high, it feels more like the 3rd floor. The hallways are kinda narrow, but there's tons of closet-space, and even a private missile silo (or some kind of central ventilation shaft.
I helped my buddy and our pals empty the various vehicles filled with his belongings.
He really should have done some sorting BEFORE moving, but I know him, and I know he probably never had the time to do it. He's such a workaholic...
Then went back to his old place in Burbank to get more stuff while I stayed in the new pad to hold down the fort. The current tenants were moving out at the same time, so we chatted amiably about stuff. They were headed to the East Coast. Oh boy, what a drive!
Eventually, the caravan returned and more unloading and stair-climbing ensued.
I got a good work-out that day!
Palsy-walsy bought us all Carl's Jr. dinner, then we did one more run to Burbank.
Came back, emptied everything out, then said goodbye to the other two friends.\
My buddy dropped me off at home, where I promptly showered and went to bed.
It was 01:00.
Monday: woke up, went to work, didn't feel too sore from the moving the day before.
Some time during the day, my home phone stopped working. Again.
Called Comcast, yelled at 'em, they didn't know what was going on and assigned a trouble ticket. Phones continued not working for rest of the day.
Got off work and found my bro outside, waiting for me in the Buckmobile.
We went home and borrowed the apartment manager's phone to make some call.
Spent the rest of the evening and night taking care of various non-Internet computer tasks (since I couldn't connect). Burned some CDs, made some labels, watched some TV and turned it off almost immediately. Funny how local news are sooooooo fascinated by stupid surveys.
"A new study shows that women like the smell of men", or something like that.
And my favorite is the coffee-study-flip-flop. It goes something like this:
(this week) "Coffee's good for you!"
(following week) "Coffee's bad for you!"
(week after that) "Coffee's good for you!"
(week after after that) "Coffee causes cancer!"
And so on, and so forth, and folderollderollderrrrr...
So aaaaaaaaaanyway...
Where was I?
Ah yeah, Comcast.
So my phones are working. Yea.
I'm still gonna shop for an alternative.
Time to go!
Later y'all!
