When I woke this morning, the theme from "The Persuaders" kept running through my head.
It was written by John Barry, British composer of many fine pieces of music, including the entire soundtrack of every James Bond
movie from "Dr. No" to "The Living Daylights", (including my personal favorite, music-wise, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service").
He also composed the soundtrack for everything from Disney's "The Black Hole" to "Dances With Wolves".
"The Persuaders" is a British TV show from 1971 that was shown extensively on French TV. It starred Roger Moore and Tony Curtis,
the former playing a knighted English millionaire playboy, the latter an American millionaire playboy, helping people in need and solving
strange crimes and shenanigans. It was a bit like "The Avengers", but with two male leads who didn't work for a covert government agency.
I remember loving this show to bits, along with "The Avengers" and "The Prisoner".
It seems NetFlix has all 4 DVDs of "The Persuaders" on tap.
When I get home tonight, I expect to find Volume 1 in my mailbox.
This makes me happy.
This will be the first time I will watch the show in its original English language.
(French TV dubs everything, and sometimes quite well. Tex Avery cartoons are shown with subtitles though. Tex gets much respect.)
So back to the theme music.
If you've heard a track called "The Box" from electronic music veterans Orbital, you will have an idea of what the theme sounds like.
Orbital was very influenced by that theme when they created "The Box".
It's a creepy, melodic, ominous sort of theme with extensive harpsichord use.
It's delightful.
Other things are going on in my life but I shan't discuss them.
They're stressful and no fun and we're still waiting on various confirmations.
I could use some good karma thrown my way.
Take care everyone.
