I HEART EMUSIC
eMusic kicks ass.
No, they do! They really do!
Check this out:
Last Sunday, I found a CD with back-ups of eMusic tracks I had bought and downloaded when I first became a customer.
It consisted of 9 Fax albums like "Escape" (1 and 2), "Dreamfish" (1 and 2), and a couple of Panoptica albums.
Since these date back to 2003, they're encoded as 128kbps MP3s.
I put them back on my computer's drive and listened to a couple.
I then checked the eMusic website and found that all these albums were now available as variable-rate MP3s.
Well, golly, it would be nice to have them in that format and not have to pay to download them again.
So on Monday, I fired off an e-mail to eMusic customer service and explained my case.
Within 10 minutes, I had a reply e-mail that basically said "Sure! Send us a list and we'll credit you!".
I was floored.
I typed out the list of albums and sent it off.
And waited.
I checked the eMusic site once a day to see if my downloads had been credited.
Nothing.
I didn't expect instant credit though.
I was sure the request had to go through various loopholes and be approved by managers and stuff.
So I just waited quietly, thinking happy thoughts.
Today, Friday, I sent another e-mail to customer service, asking if they had gotten the list.
Within 5 minutes, a reply showed up, indicating I had been credited for 74 downloads (the total sum number of tracks).
I refreshed the site and sure enough, 74 downloads to my name. W00T!!!
So I used them to redownload all the new variable-rate versions of the old tracks.
eMusic kicks ass. (:nods)
