zrath: Zrath-Smiley as a TRON program (Colossus)

Samsung UK has been throwing money at people to make cool and wacky ads for their stuff.
A coworker e-mailed a link to this:

It's a computer using a RAID array of 24 Solid State Drives (SSDs) of 256gig each.
So that's 6 terabytes of storage, with no moving parts.
So this makes the computer insanely fast, as you can see from the video.
One slight caveat though: each 256gig SSD costs $700.
Argh...

Meanwhile, in Wales, sheep are covered in LEDs and turned into big pixels for a massive display:

Neat stuff!
But every time I see the abbreviation SSD, I think of Super Star Destroyer... :)

And now, from the Everybody Point And Laugh department:

Sci-Fi Channel changes name to something stupid and confirms they never liked science fiction anyway!

In related news, io9.com gives us "25 Other Names The Sci Fi Channel Could Rebrand With"

Oy gevalt...

Edit: "25 Other Names" link fixed!
Those responsible have been sacked.
