Yeah, I've been so disatisfied with sandwich places like Quiznos (overpriced), Togos (made me sick twice in a row) and Subway (made me sick too, but not as bad as Togos) that I find myself going to supermarkets to get sandwiches instead. I tried a local pizza/pasta joint that was recommended on Yelp.com and it was complete bullshit. I ordered an 18" club sub and when I unwrapped it at home, I discovered that it contained the amount of coldcuts you would normally find on a 6" sub. I mean, the stuff was spread so thin, it was ridiculous! And a complete rip-off! So much for supporting local independent businesses. I felt like a fleeced tourist. Anyway, The local Ralphs (aka Krogers) has a turkey and cheddar sub that's pretty good. I mean, it's just mayo, lettuce, turkey breast and sliced cheddar on sub-style roll, but it's good! The bread could be better, but the sammich weighs easily a pound and the turkey and cheddar are high quality. This sub costs $6. Ralphs also has big thick sammiches in focaccia bread. The turkey club is pretty good, with turkey, bacon, avocado and other stuff. It's $7 and it's a bit of an ordeal to eat because it's so tall. But I have a big mouth! :D Yeah, so screw the chain sammich shops!
