I don't know. I mean, I think we've seen enough to know that the movie itself is going to be as equally shallow as the first film, which is a good thing. You don't really want Deep for TRON anyway. It's more about graphics, action, and the "Majesty of the Machine" anyway. We know going in that we'll be given a variant of the story of Orpheus, and I'm good with that.
Forgive that coin of phrase, but what I mean by Majesty of the Machine is that mainly TRON presents us with a fairy tale land that is about the beautiful world inside the commonplace. Straying too far from TRON's fairy tale roots probably would do it more damage then good, and I don't see any indication that they are going to do that.
What I worry about is that there is an undercurrent with revived franchises to make them more 'adult' and 'mature', and this tends to ruin films. I sense this undercurrent in the people making this film. I just hope that they don't let the desire to appease the older members of the audience ruin what should be a fun FX Blast.
