I like your take on the Independence Day menu. We used to do home-made sushi on Easter. Why not? There were brightly colored eggs involved. Salmon eggs, masago, tamago... hehehe.
"anything that pissed off the Brits was alright by the French!" Sing it, brother! A friend of mine used to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in a rebellious fashion, with a "Cinque de Mai" French picnic, to commemorate the =winning= side in that particular conflict. Sometimes I wonder why nobody ever threw rocks at her house with the Tricoleur out front... Oh well, historical illiteracy is everywhere I suppose. :-(
"The Green Hornet is the Lone Ranger's grand-nephew." I think it was Philip Jose Farmer who devised a whole big family tree that connected many of the literary and comic book heroes of the 19th and 20th Centuries, in TARZAN ALIVE! and DOC SAVAGE: HIS APOCALYPTIC LIFE. Fun stuff.
