Holding the good thoughts for Evil Sibling and Your New Job. Yay!
I wish I had known about the anime meeting, I was bored and lonely a lot of the weekend and I'm now located quite near your Sherman Oaks bus stop. One of the things on my To Do list is to get up to date with Anime and this sounds like one way to accomplish it. Not all my Saturday nights are this boring however and I may or may not get there real soon.
Sportsmen's Lodge: Frankie and Sammy probably =did= hang there at some point, that's been a Valley institution for gosh, practically centuries. It used to be the poshest place for miles around, when the Valley was not much more than orange groves and drive-ins. Once upon a time, one could catch one's own dinner because they stocked the "stream" with trout. Now it serves as the swan's highway, mostly. Otherwise, the refacing they did about 20 years ago was strictly authentic Old School and I'm glad.
