The Friday Five (St. Patty-Oscar Edition)
1) If you were to star in a movie, who would you want to be cast as your love interest?
Lauren Graham (Lorelei from "Gilmore Girls")
2) What genre of movie would you most like to star in?
Military sci-fi action flick, like a serious version of "Starship Troopers"
3) What song would you insist be on the soundtrack?
"We Have Explosive" by Future Sound Of London.
4) What would you wear to the premiere of your movie?
A zoot suit, complete with long chain, nifty hat, giant tie, the works!
And I would badger Daimler/Chrysler into letting me borrow their Chrysler Imperial concept car for the evening.
5) Who would you thank in your Oscar acceptance speech?
My brother for being such a hard-ass, my late dog Elvis, and my parents for being insane.
Well, the "Great DSL On-Turning" event turned out to be the "Great DSL What Order?" event.
So I had to put in the order again and Wednesday the 22nd is the new "Great DSL On-Turning Day".
Blargh.
Just got back from lunch with co-workers. We took one car, a colleague's brand new Chrysler 300C Limited.
It's pretty snazzy, and if the driver's cockpit were roomier, I'd consider getting one.
We went to Dolores in West L.A., an overpriced diner/coffee-shop. They ordered breakfast, I got a burger.
The burger experience was uncomfortably close to eating a McDonalds Big Mac. It was pretty horrible.
Same squishy buns, same shredded lettuce, same special sauce, same uninteresting meat patties.
I had asked for cheddar on mine and after some extensive search and rescue operations, my team managed to locate
a burnt fragment of an orange, possibly-cheddar-y substance on the south face of the burger. Findings indicate
that the bottom meat patty had been covered with a slice of cheddar approximately 1 angstrom thick. The slice
was instantly vaporized when it came in contact with the super-heated meat patty.
The ersatz Big Mac came with "Suzy Q Fries", which are kinda like curly fries, except not preseasoned.
They were undercooked.
Service was adventurous, with our waiter slamming things on our table and talking to us in Spanish at first
eventhough our party consisted of exactly one latino-looking patron out of five people total.
The one bright spot in this otherwise dreary meal was, strangely enough, the beverage.
It was fountain Coke and it actually contained what I find lacking in about 90% of restaurant fountain soda:
CARBONATION
Needless to say, Dolores is off my list.
Pascal and I already have a favorite dinner, and it's closer to home too.
Sibling Update:
Radiation treatment continues, along with other drugs. He's getting two more weeks to go.
We're talking to various agencies about getting assistance with payment of his treatment, transportation to his
appointments, help with living expenses, and other things.
He's holding up really well considering all the stuff the doctors and nurses have been doing to him.
He's an inspiration to the other patients, especially when they find out his age and contrast that with how good
he looks and what kind of treatment he's getting. (He looks way younger than he really is)
Well, enjoy your weekend everyone!

Eat chicken soup or better still [don't tell my mother I said this] Chinese Hot & Sour Soup to combat today's miserable weather.
