Kzinti faw down, go splat...

As I was walking toward the bus stop this morning, I looked behind me and saw the bus approaching.
I started running on the uneven sidewalk, and my right foot caught the edge of a slab.
"Oh shit", thought I as I lost my balance. "maybe I should have stayed in bed".
I had actually been contemplating calling in sick because I was feeling like crap and I was tired.
But I got up, showered, dressed, and dashed out the door.
I was sent hurtling forward. I hit the ground mostly on my left arm and slid a few inches.
Massive pain shot up through my left arm.
I opened my eyes and saw a woman hovering over me, a look of concern on her face.
"Are you alright?"
I took a nice long deep breath.
"I'm okay, though it hurts like hell. I need a few moments to collect myself."
I waited for the pain to recede to an aceptable level. I glanced at my arm. No blood. Good.
But it was red and scraped, and the main area of impact was completely numb to the touch.
Two knuckles on my left hand were bloody. I slowly stood up then dusted myself off.
The woman headed back to her baby SUV.
"I have to go to the dentist right now," and her mouth did seem a little swollen on one side,
"but my husband is upstairs. If you need anything..."
"Thank you very much, I'm fine. I'm gonna have a big bruise from this and that's about it."
"Okay then."
I gave her a thumbs-up as she left, then gathered my stuff and resumed walking toward the bus stop.
The bus had of course come and gone. I sat on the bench, and inspected my left arm.
Feeling was returning, and I noticed that my cellphone holder had a scrape-mark on the side.
I wear a velcro sport-band on my left arm that holds my cellphone.
The cellphone itself hadn't suffered any damage in the fall. Good!
My sunglasses were undamaged, but my bottle of water had a hairline crack on the bottom.
I sat in the sunshine and just relaxed, waiting for the next bus.
It's a beautiful day today, not as hot as yesterday.
So now I'm at work.
I washed my arm as soon as I got in. It's nice and clean. It hurts but I'll live.
My ersatz-manager isn't here. Actually, nobody from my team is here.
Maybe I should have stayed home after all.
A colleague just looked at the bruise on my arm and said:
"You look like you got bit by a toothless shark. He tried to gum you to death!"
LOL!
And he's right!
So I got the first DVD of "Justice League Unlimited" Season 1 yesterday and watched it all last night.
I really enjoyed the Paul Dini episode ("This Little Piggy"). (I ALWAYS enjoy Paul Dini episodes!)
Especially the Circe-whacking:
"How dare you..." (WHACK - chair to the back of the head)
"How dare you..." (WHACK - table to the left side of the body)
"How dare you..." (FLAP - tablecloth over the head)
"QUIT IT!! Oh..." (WHAM - grand piano to the face)
Lots of great lines in there.
Wonder Woman: "Watch out, it's Circe and..."
Batman: "I know. I read The Odyssey."
In the commentaries, Paul and Bruce and the others say that this episode is an hommage to "Bewitched".
Which makes sense but doesn't explain the singing.
Anyway, fun stuff.
Makes me realize I know the Marvel Universe more than the DC one.
Take care y'all, and catch you on the flipside!

The only reasons I watch JLU are Hawk, Vigilante, Wildcat and Zatanna. Valid reasons for me.

Have you gone for the ice packs yet? Or traction?
