Ebert and that other guy are moronicans!!
...Because, when they did their Top Ten Worst Movies of 2002, they chose "Death To Smoochie" as their number one!
Idiots! Philistines! Visigoths! Cretans!
It's such a wonderfully wicked little movie with some of the most effective use of foul language I've ever been exposed to! Quentin Tarantino only wishes he could write dialogue that good!
And since I'm on a movie theme, let's talk about "Road To Perdition". We rented this today and just finished watching it. Oh, like, wow man. I haven't seen a gangster movie this good since...
Urrrrrrr...
Well, anyway, you're probably saying to yourself "oh yeah, another gangster movie, big deal". And actually, yeah, it IS a big deal. I mean, you probably think you've seen them all. From "The Asphalt Jungle" to "The Untouchables" to "Gangs Of New York" (does that even count?). Heck, you might have even seen "Johnny Dangerously"! Well, "Road To Perdition" is something else entirely. It blew me away. It's incredibly well-done and well-played. And since it's from the director of "American Beauty" (Sam Mendes), well hell, that's par for the course. This guy is GOOD.
The music is also very good. I usually don't pay attention to film scores, but this one grabbed me. I thought at times it was the work of Stewart Copeland, but it's not. It's some guy named Thomas Newman.
I wanted to see this in theaters, but didn't get around to it. I'm sorry I missed it. The cinematography is breathtaking. Rent it today and watch it on a big screen. It's worth it.
I borrowed "O Brother Where Art Thou" from Hatch, and I've watched it twice so far. This is a FUN movie! Eventhough I'm the complete technohead when it comes to music, I also like Swing, Bluegrass, and even Dixieland Jazz! Why, my favorite Wall Of Voodoo track is their cover of "Ring Of Fire"!
So I'm digging this movie a whole lot! It's darn near a musical! And I just love them wacky accents! Now I understand why people were raving about this movie. It's really good, and the performances are incredible. And for me, it's educational. 'Cuz I ain't exactly from 'round heah, ya know?
This one's from the Coen Brothers, who are a couple of wacky guys. I'm sure most of you are familiar with their body of work.
We also rented "The Ring", that spooky movie thing. Ain't watched it yet, so will talk about it later.
I'm thinking of signing up for that NetFlix thing. It sounds interesting, and at $20 a month, it's certainly cheaper than Blockbuster. The sibling and I are movie buffs, so this is up our alley. I can finally rent all that stuff I've been meaning to catch up on, like the Godfather Trilogy.
Well, that's enough jibbah-jabbah! I'm Audi 5000! Peace!
