Wednesday June 30th
Official Spider-Man 2 Comes Out Day!
By now, most of you should have discovered just how much that movie rocks.
If you haven't, go see it now!

Thursday July 1st
Normal workday.
Took [livejournal.com profile] chythar to see Spider-Man 2.
It still rocked!

Friday July 2nd
Normal workday.
[livejournal.com profile] zotcoon came by to visit Chythar and I.
The three of us piled into his Volkswagen Golf and went to a pet store to get kitty food. (For Chythar's cats)
We stopped at Toys'R'Us afterwards. They were action-figure-hunting, I was Lego-hunting.
After dithering for a good 10 minutes, I bought this.
It was either that or one of the Spider-Man 2 sets with Doc Ock and Spidey.
I will get one of those eventually, the Lego Doc Ock figure is too cool!
But the Deep Sea Predators set won out, because of the theme, and the color and quantity of bricks provided.
It cost the same ($20) as the cheapest Spider-Man 2 set featuring Spidey and Doc Ock (the Bank Heist).
We went home after that and entertainment El Zotto as best we could. But he was tired and went home.

Saturday July 3rd
[livejournal.com profile] doodlesthegreat, Chythar and I piled into the Doodlesmobile and headed South towards Uberheim (Anaheim),
to check out AnimExpo (25,000 otakus in one place, oy!).
Doodles had back problems, so we didn't stay very long. The dealers' room was rather sizeable.
And we came back with almost as many freebies as when I went to E3!
I tried finding a Cowboy Bebop t-shirt, but all the dealers stop at XXL. It ain't easy being Kzinti.
On the way back, we stopped for lunch at the Insane Chicken (El Pollo Loco), then hit 21st Century COmics.
It was Free Comic Day, so we got our very own stand-up comedian!! Har!! I kill me.
No, we got more freebies! Wooooh!!!
El Doodles dropped us home and went on his not-so-merry way. Poor guy. I hope the back is fully healed.
Chythar and I sat around and looked at our loot. The end.

Sunday July 4th
Rode down to Rick And Tess's Fourth Of July Party with Señor Doodles bright and early (noon).
There were only a handful of people there, so I grabbed a table and chair and started working
on my recently purchased Lego set. There were enough parts in the set to build the shark, the giant squid,
and some weird red fish with lots of teeth, all at the same time. The shark is very spiffy AND articulated!!
By the time I was done building all three, a lot more people had shown up, so I put me toys away.
The VCR was fired up, with a tape of un-PC cartoons in its belly. Most of them were wartime classics,
like "You're A Sap, Mr. Jap" (Popeye). There was even "So White And The Seben Dwoves" (hilarious!).
After that, somebody ruined it by putting anime in. (Joke!!)
Food was consumed, conversations were had, games were played, nightfall was anticipated.
Since Rick And Tess's is in Garden (Garbage) Grove, and therefore in Orange County, it's okay to set off fireworks.
Los Angeles County doesn't allow fireworks of any kind, at least not ones set by normal citizens.
Orange County allows all ground-bound fireworks (no rockets, no shells, nothing that flies up in the air).
That didn't stop other people from firing those off anyway. Every so often, we heard a mortar-like "whump!"
followed by the sight of a bright explosion of colors high up in the air. Foolish humans!!
Rick And Tess's remained "safe and sane" though! Well, mostly. One of the artificers was rather ditzy.
We set off all sorts of fountains and bombs and cracklers and wacky stuff.
Then Crassus brought out the pièce de resistance: a large suspension bridge made from fireworks.
It was placed in a pan of water and lit, and it gave us quite a spectacle. I hope someone taped it...

That was fun!!!

More later...
