zrath: Zrath-Smiley as a TRON program (Major & Friend)

DAMMIT!!

I went in to my new employer today to fill out all the paperwork (and boy, there was a lot!).
We (me and the other 12 new guys) got a tour of the office, were shown the timeclock and how it works
(it's a hand reader! Holy biometrics, Batman!), and got our parking validated.
I drove homeward and stopped at Del Taco for my one meal of the day.
While there, I got a phone call from work.
The project I was slated to be put on was placed on hold.
I'm not starting tomorrow.
I'm on hold until they call me and tell me the project is back on track.

In the immortal words of Darkman, "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME!"

So now, I wait until I get a call. I was told it wouldn't be more than a week.
I will continue job-hunting.
The cool place I interviewed at a couple of weeks ago, which is called Genex by the way, has still
not gotten back to me with a "yay" or "nay". I e-mailed the guy yesterday, and no reply so far.

"Faith manages."

A few minutes ago, [livejournal.com profile] gizmoelf came by to visit for a bit.
He went to Anime Expo over the weekend and apparently picked up a little something for me.
"And it looks a little something like this. HIT IT!"

It's a plushie Tachikoma from "Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig"!
It's almost a foot across! It's currently sprawled on the mixing board in the living room.
PlushiTachi! :D
Thanks Gizmo for raising my spirits!

Iconolatry

zrath: Zrath-Smiley as a TRON program (Batou & Major)

I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] araquan to elaborate on three of my LJ icons a while back.
I now have time to do so.

  • Naka

This is a close-up of "Stripes" by Bryce Nakagawa, an original work in ink and markers.
"Stripes" is the first piece of art I ever purchased at a furry convention art auction.
The full image shows an armored felinoid pointing out juicy targets to his fellow troopers.
The armor is digitigrade and there's a flag affixed to the back, Feudal Japan-style.
I was very deep into the "Man-Kzin Wars" books at the time and Stripes very much seemed like the Kzin in battle armor to me.
This icon is used as a reminder of the more serious side of my personality. I am Kzin. Do not push me.

  • Batou

Batou is a character from Masamune Shirow's "Ghost In The Shell" universe.
He is Motoko "The Major" Kusanagi's right-hand man, a cyborg with extensive military experience.
Of all the anime characters I've seen, he is probably the one I identify with the strongest.
Jet Black from "Cowboy Bebop" runs a close second.
A big strong bear of a man, older, more experienced than his Section 9 colleagues.
As for "Cyborgs are love", well, just because you're mostly machine doesn't mean you don't have feelings. :)

  • HexyBaby

Hexadecimal, from the awesome TV show "Reboot". Hexy Baby is a virus, temperamental, unpredictable, chaotic.
Her face is frozen, a series of interchangeable masks she swaps with a flick of the wrist.
I wanted a happy-fun-mayhem grinning-evil-death icon and she seemed the logical choice.
