We just had a short earthquake here.
It was a 3.4 centered 2 km (1 miles) WNW (288°) from Marina del Rey, CA.

Milkshakes in the refrigerator? Hm... I wonder how many cans of soda spattered their contents because of it.

I'm pretty sure none.
A couple of my Lego minifigures fell over, but that's it.
No one wants to see an earthquake strong enough to do what you've described.
We're talking end of the world stuff.

Thank goodness! Although some cans of soda that I know, it wouldn't take much to set them off; but that's probably excessive carbonation.
