2005: A Whole New Ballgame

I had an entry about 75% written, until my computer crashed and took it with it.
So, you're getting the short version.

No more Sonyflix and Sony Screenings. I'm not part of that collective anymore, as of last week.
1 year and 6 months there with no change in status. Contractor position, no benefits, no nothing.
For the same salary I was getting circa 2000 at Activision, doing simple console testing.
The knowledge and skill required for this job was much higher.
Blargh.

Work on Projects X, Y, and Z has therefore intensified.
Project X is of limited interest to y'all. So we shan't talk about it.
Project Y, I've mentioned before. It's the book about my father and his Harley.
Project Z, I may have mentioned before. It's the resurrection of our family's brand identity.
Once Project X is up and running, we can concentrate on Y and Z.
Word.

Not much else to report.
Budget is tighter than ever, frivolity of any kind is right out.
Storage unit rent goes up a full $25 next month. Blargh.
Roommate #1 doesn't believe that the sibling is really my brother. Says we don't look enough alike.
Seems to be under the impression we're gay lovers or something.
BUH!!?!?
Maybe it's because the sibling is here every day and we stay in my room while we work on our projects.
R#1 is a weirdo anyway.
The kitchen remains the scariest kitchen I've ever seen, except for Count Olaf's in
"Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events".
The one clean spot is around the sink, because I've been doing dishes, and the dishes are CLEAN!
The bathtub drains even slower than before. It's friggin' ridiculous.
Somebody was supposed to be over today to root it out by noone came.
I'm looking for a new place.

Good wishes and speedy recovery to Fred "Unca Fred" Patten, we got nasty con crud at Further Confusion (pneumonia?).
I first met him when I started attending C/FO (Cartoon/Fantasy Organization) meetings in Santa Monica in 1986.
These meetings were held at the "Change Of Hobbit" bookstore, first on Pico, then on 2nd Street.
I met Jean "Moebius" Giraud's son there. And over the years, I saw lots of great animé.
A lot of it not even subtitled. I think I kept all the photocopied synopsises that were handed out.
Anyway, feel better and go home, Unca Fred!

Read the bit after "No more Sonyflix and Sony Screenings".
It's a bit obtuse, but I'm saying I'm not working there anymore.
