Riddle while foam burns.

Initiate Good News/Bad News protocol.
Bad news first:
I heard back from the company I applied with recently, and the answer is "no".
This was the agency position for night shift testing with 35 hours a week instead of 40.
The news was delivered via e-mail. I had requested that I be notified, whether I had the job or not.
I was told this was not normal procedure, but they would comply and let me know. And they did. I appreciate that.
Guess I'll keep looking...
So, the good news:
I got a new CD burner. I really wanted an extra hard drive, but the deal I got was really good.
OfficeMax is selling, until April 30th, the HP CD-52 for $39 with a $30 mail-in rebate. It's a 52X burner.
I'm still using the original CD burner that came with my HP Pavilion computer, purchased back in 1999, and I'm frankly
surprised that it's still working as well as it is and that I never really had any problems with it. Still, it's quite
old, and it's been used an awful lot, and it's a 4X, and why wait for it to fail when I can just replace it now with
his astounding deal? I was at OfficeMax getting inkjet cartridges and CD labels (we can print again! And make labels!)
when I noticed this deal on the flyer. I showed it to Pascal, who asked the most pertinent question one could ask:
"What will this do for us?"
"Burn music CDs much faster. It's a 52X burner, though we'll use 16X to burn music CDs," I replied.
"What's the speed of our current burner?"
"4X."
"Buy it. We'll tighten our budget a bit."
And thus it came to pass we purchased a new CD burner. And lo did the birds sing, and the crickets chirp, and stuff.
And I hope that rebate check doesn't take too long to get here, 'cause our budget is le laughable.
The new burner certainly boosts our productivity by a large order of magnitude.
On the old system, it took 5 minutes to read a source music CD and up to 20 minutes to burn one copy.
Getting a new DVD-ROM drive when upgrading the computer cut the 5 minutes to just 2.5 minutes.
And with the new burner, a 20-minute job is now 5 minutes tops! And I can also do disk-at-once copying!
And this is important because the brother is a DJ and he needs two copies of everything for mixing purposes!
So yea for increased productivity and being able to get more stuff done!
And the title of this entry was chosen because the new burner came with Nero Express software. And I love spoonerisms.
They were easily my favorite part of the old Infocom game "Nord And Bert Couldn't Make Heads Or Tails Of It".
It was one of the last titles released by Infocom and was all about various forms of wordplay in the English language.
The upcoming weekend will be a busy one.
The sibling has an Indian wedding to DJ Downtown on Saturday, and

Mr. 'Yote will graciously assist us in getting the gear to the venue. This is in the evening though.
During the day, Mr. 'Yote and I will attend a LUGOLA (Lego User Group Of Los Angeles) meeting in a swanky Long Beach pad.
Beachfront clubhouse with adjacent condo, food and prizes, and nifty Lego contructions brought by various club members.
It should be le cool, daddy-o!
After the meeting, Mr. 'Yote and I will catch a matinee of "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy".
Then will come the sibling gig assistance and set up. The sibling will have to be evaced when the gig ends.
On Sunday, the brother and I will head out to the wilds of Agoura Hills to do some business and get some nature.
I'm sure there will be many other tasks to perform as well.
And, oh yeah, I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow.
My brother said I should get "something more Elvis" in style.
Well thank yew very much...
We'll see.
That's all for now Jim! Over and out.

Ok, sorry, but I had to have that outburst. If you're lucky you might barely get it after 2 months. Officemax's rebates blow chunks, they tend to take way longer than they say they will. I do hope that you somehow do get it faster though, man.
