I just got off the phone with the nurse who's taking care of my brother.
She says he is stable and recovering, he's not feeling any pain, but he does need to rest.
She's not certain he will be released Saturday, which is what he told me when he went in.
I will go visit him Saturday for sure, whether he is released or not.
I am now officially relieved. Le whew!!
In other news, Naughty Dog's QA manager's girlfriend, who happens to work nightshift at Jamdat,
placed a brand-spanking new copy of "JakX - Combat Racing" for PS2 in my big worried paws tonight.
My game! It's my game! Look on page 35 of the manual, under "Testers"! There's my name! In my game!
I do believe I will crack it open and play a few levels/racetracks tonight.
And speaking of Naughty Dog, Pascal and I watched "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" last night, which is
a movie I didn't get to see in the theaters because of, that's right, my insane Naughty Dog working schedule!!
I expected something weird and wacky and boy, did it deliver!! OMGWTFBBQ! The sets!!! I really dug them.
I didn't expect the Oompa-Loompas to be so tiny. I mean, Deep Roy is a small person already,
but holy crap, I've seen bigger dolls at the swap meet! Johnny (off the) Depp (end) was really screwed up
in this one. Part Ed Wood, part Spino, part fanboy with no social skills, with his little cue cards.
He was wonderful. And Christopher Lee is always a delight. The whole cast is pretty good.
The movie made me crave chocolate, so today, I bought a tablet of Scharfen-Berger milk chocolate at
Trader Joe's as a special afternoon treat. You break off a square and place it on your tongue,
and just suck on it like it's an Altoid or something. It just melts right up. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Ahem!
Anyway, so yeah, cool movie, good take on the book. This town is big enough for two Willy Wonkas!
And that was my last Netflix movie. I have to wait until Saturday for the next batch.
Good night, and good luck.

Yep, gonna get some rest tonight.
Oh yeah, you wanna know about Heather Bruton and the Anubis t-shirt!
She has an LJ, at
Click on "Miscellaneous Goodies" for the t-shirts.
She has Anubis, Bast, Sekhmet, and Thoth.
The Anubis cloisonné pin is also very nice, and able to withstand atomic blasts.
She is currently vacationing in Egypt, a fact that makes me so jealous!!!
I wanna go to Egypt too, dammit!!!
Enjoy!

I liked Depp as Wonka. Not his most stunning role (I still feel the rather underappreciated Don Juan DeMarco received that), but very well suited nonetheless, nicely updated in parts, and with that highly enjoyable cameo by Christopher Lee. (If you've not seen either yet, I can recommend his turns in Gormenghast and the two Discworld animated series - the former's rather more serious, if nonetheless mildly surreal)
BTW, I do hope you've caught Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit. ^_^ (And even Mirrormask, maybe?)

I just saw "Charile and the Chocolate Factory" show up in the used DVD store across the street but only as new. But, shouldn't be too long before it appears used and I'll snag it up.

LOL!!!
Yeah, I don't know what's going on.
First, it was "Shakespeare In Love", with the Spino-esque-in-looks Joseph Fiennes.
And now, "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory", with the Spino-esque-in-mannerisms Johnny Depp.
I've got "Thunderbirds" (live-action), "Vanilla Sky", and an IFC documentary on Spaghetti Westerns
coming down the pike on Netflix, and I highly doubt I'll find anything Spino-esque in these.
