zrath: Zrath-Smiley as a TRON program (Lego Darth)

Lego and Lucasfilms signed a deal in 1999.

For fans of Legos and Star Wars, it was a dream come true.
And an unexpected dream at that since, up until that point, the Lego Group had a firm policy AGAINST licensing of any kind.
Lego wasted no time in releasing several sets, including the X-Wing Fighter and Slave I.
This is what the first Lego Slave I looked like, back in 1999.
It was kinda small and fairly blocky. Still, I picked one up as soon as they came out.

Then in 2002, Lego released a Jango Fett Slave I for "Episode II: Attack Of The Clones".
It was much larger and more detailed, with actual curved pieces and a new kick-ass cockpit canopy.
It was nice. I couldn't even begin to afford one, so it came and went.

Last year, Lego released a new version of the Boba Fett Slave I.
This one fixed some of the problems of the Jango Fett version (no rear loading ramp!) and featured new weapons systems.
Aside from Boba Fett and frozen Han Solo, Lego threw in three extra minfigs: Cloud City guy, IG-88, and Dangar.
This is the one I purchased back in March, as a late birthday gift to myself. It's every nice, nicer than the Jango one.

On my desk at work, it looks like this:

Slave I MkIII

And this is what it looks like if you're a Lego minifig:

Hey Boba! You in there?

Answer your phone, man!

Huh, ramp's up. He must not be home.

So anyway, neat stuff.

I hope to get the new Y-Wing next.
