Random (for Wednesday): Andromeda Strain

Dang it! I forgot to post a Random last night.
I watched "Renaissance" on DVD, then watched DVD 2 of "Justice League Unlimited: Season 2".
Look for a Netflixing post soon about those two and much more.
Okay, here's Wednesday's Random:

I love the Rubik's Snake.
Unlike the Cube, it's not a thing that you solve and then you're done.
I mean, sure, you learn how to make the "Ball" with it, but then you play with it and make lots of other things too.
This is one of my favorite configurations.
I call it "The Andromeda Strain", after the excellent Robert Wise film based on the Michael Chrichton book.
This configuration reminds me of what the Andromeda virus looks like under the electron microscope.

I just finished Crichton's novel, Next; a series of lightly interlaced plotlines set in The Near Future, each addressing the ethical quandaries of this whole brave new world of genetic engineering. With talking monkeys and hyperintelligent parrots and everything.
It was fascinating enough, but wake me up when the cheetah girls are ready.
