Thursday June 4th: My cellphone rang at around 10am. It was my pal

He was on the 10 Freeway, in the Easternmost reaches of the Los Angeles Megalopolis and headed this way.
There was the possibility that he would come out to L.A. to visit and to hit Califur, but I hadn't heard
anything since we had discussed it. I was going to call him later that day to find out what was going on.
Well, no need to call! That crazy uni was a-comin'! Lock up the fillies and hide the booze! :D
Since he was still two hours away, I had plenty of time to get outta bed, shower, dress, and get coherent.
When he finally got here, I helped him get his stuff upstairs and we went to get some lunch.
We took the F(n)ord (St)Ranger and went to the best Chipotle in the area, the one in Marina Del Rey.
We had tasty tasty burritos and, as Roy is not fond of avocado, I enjoyed the guacamole.
We then walked around the Marina and through a park, and met a very chill duck, and a large squirrel.
Roy was enjoying the greenery and the fresh windy ocean air. Yes, you can have fresh air in L.A. :)
And then, some nasty bird almost dumped on us while we were sitting on a bench and enjoying the shade of
a large tree. Curse you foul avian! Guess it was time to move on. We saw a Perrier vending machine in the
park, sadly empty, and Roy could not resist giving it the "Spaceballs" President Skroob Salute.
Eventually, we returned to the F(n)ord (St)Ranger and headed back to the Kzinti Freehold.
Roy was tired, so he got comfy on the couch and watched my DVD of "1941" while I disassembled some Lego
sets to put them in storage. He conked out an hour later and I just kept working quietly.
I woke him at 9pm to see if he wanted dinner. He did so I set about making the chile-lime chicken patties
I had set aside to defrost when we started watching the movie. These were a new item at Trader Joe's and
they turned out to be really tasty. I only had two burger buns and four patties, so I made double-burgers.
And to go with zee burgeurs, there was Trader Joe's crinkle cut chips with salt and pepper, which were GOOD!
They're just as good as the Kettle brand natural chips! Trader Joe's continues RAWKING!!
We watched the extra features of "1941" and laughed. Steven Spielberg approached the film like making a
demolition derby. Halfway through the filming, he thought about turning it into a musical. The movie used
to be called "The Night The Japs Attacked". John Belushi really fell down from the wing of his plane.
The DVD extra features were taken from the laserdisc version. Nice! :D
And then, it was time for bed. (THUD!)
Next, CALIFUR here we come!
EDIT: added links to Very Chill Duck and PerriAir Vending Machine.
