Thursday June 4th: My cellphone rang at around 10am. It was my pal [livejournal.com profile] roycalbeck, Arizona Unicorn.
He was on the 10 Freeway, in the Easternmost reaches of the Los Angeles Megalopolis and headed this way.
There was the possibility that he would come out to L.A. to visit and to hit Califur, but I hadn't heard
anything since we had discussed it. I was going to call him later that day to find out what was going on.
Well, no need to call! That crazy uni was a-comin'! Lock up the fillies and hide the booze! :D
Since he was still two hours away, I had plenty of time to get outta bed, shower, dress, and get coherent.
When he finally got here, I helped him get his stuff upstairs and we went to get some lunch.
We took the F(n)ord (St)Ranger and went to the best Chipotle in the area, the one in Marina Del Rey.
We had tasty tasty burritos and, as Roy is not fond of avocado, I enjoyed the guacamole.
We then walked around the Marina and through a park, and met a very chill duck, and a large squirrel.
Roy was enjoying the greenery and the fresh windy ocean air. Yes, you can have fresh air in L.A. :)
And then, some nasty bird almost dumped on us while we were sitting on a bench and enjoying the shade of
a large tree. Curse you foul avian! Guess it was time to move on. We saw a Perrier vending machine in the
park, sadly empty, and Roy could not resist giving it the "Spaceballs" President Skroob Salute.
Eventually, we returned to the F(n)ord (St)Ranger and headed back to the Kzinti Freehold.
Roy was tired, so he got comfy on the couch and watched my DVD of "1941" while I disassembled some Lego
sets to put them in storage. He conked out an hour later and I just kept working quietly.
I woke him at 9pm to see if he wanted dinner. He did so I set about making the chile-lime chicken patties
I had set aside to defrost when we started watching the movie. These were a new item at Trader Joe's and
they turned out to be really tasty. I only had two burger buns and four patties, so I made double-burgers.
And to go with zee burgeurs, there was Trader Joe's crinkle cut chips with salt and pepper, which were GOOD!
They're just as good as the Kettle brand natural chips! Trader Joe's continues RAWKING!!
We watched the extra features of "1941" and laughed. Steven Spielberg approached the film like making a
demolition derby. Halfway through the filming, he thought about turning it into a musical. The movie used
to be called "The Night The Japs Attacked". John Belushi really fell down from the wing of his plane.
The DVD extra features were taken from the laserdisc version. Nice! :D
And then, it was time for bed. (THUD!)

Next, CALIFUR here we come!

EDIT: added links to Very Chill Duck and PerriAir Vending Machine.

What's better than a Chipotle is Westwood?
A Chipotle in Downtown Culver City! :D
Yes, a nice female coworker informed me today that there is a Chipotle on Culver Blvd, a few doors
down from my favorite local theater, the Pacific Culver City Stadium 12. There used to be some kind
of baja/seafood Mexican joint there, but it's gone now and Chipotle took the space over.
This is awesome news! It's a 5 minute drive from work! I can have Chipotle for lunch!
In fact, I just did! :D

I'm back at work after having Monday off. I worked Saturday and Sunday (though only 3 hours on Sunday).
On Monday, I took care of business (gas bill, cellphone bill, car insurance, water and Gatorade).
I stopped by Best Buy to look around and stumbled across some killer DVD deals.
Best Buy has a bunch of DVDs for $3.99, $6.99 and $9.99, and some of it is definitely worth it.
Here are a few examples (there are many more titles on sale):
"Inside Man", "Snatch", "X-Men", "X-Men 2", "L4yer Cake", "Spaceballs", "Friday Night Lights" ($3.99)
"Casino Royale" (Daniel Craig), "Crank", "Planet Terror", "Death Proof", "War", "1408" ($6.99)
"Live Free Or Die Hard", "Transformers" (recent), "Serenity", "Walk Hard", "AvP: Requiem" ($9.99)
That's just a small sample.
I picked up a couple of titles I've been putting off buying: "Falling Down" and "I,Robot".
They were in the "$3.99 each" category.
Don't steal movies! Not when they're this cheap! :D

Back to work!

There's a Chipotle in Westwood.

Let me rephrase that, with feelings.

THERE'S A FLIPPIN' CHIPOTLE MEXICAN GRILL IN M*TH*RF*CK*N' WESTWOOD CALIFORNIA!!!
OMGWTFBURRITOYEAAAAAAAAAAA!!!1!1

I was walking around Westwood today, looking for a place to have lunch. I happened to take Broxton and there it was,
not 100 yards from the EB Games/GameStop at the corner of Kinross, Westwood, and Broxton (it's a weird intersection).
It's been open about two weeks apparently, and it seems to be doing brisk business.
You cannot possibly understand how happy this makes me. Okay, maybe you can understand. :)
No more riding two buses to go to the ones in Beverly Hills or Marina Del Rey!
Just one bus and 15 minutes separate me from delicious guacamole and mind-blowing burritos!
And there's the Westwood In-N-Out Burgers about 2-3 blocks away.
Oh yeaaaaaaaah...

A friend pointed out this page talking about giant road trains, including a concept for linkable megadumptrucks
sure to make Gerry Anderson smile. I may have to build something like that out of Legos!

The artwork for all 4 CDs of the memorial compilation is done. It just needs some minor tweaking.
I've also designed the front case insert. I have a couple of ideas for the back, though it has to be simple image-wise
because there's a lot of text on it. So I'm thinking one large headshot of Pascal, maybe faded so the text is legible.
This weekend, I'm gonna mostly stay home, and buckle down and mix "My Planet Rocks", the house/trance CD.
I went to Trader Joe's today and stocked up on food, and I was at Ralph's yesterday, stocking up on beverages. I now have
5 different kind of diet sodas on hand: Coke Zero, Cherry Zero, Vanilla Zero, Lime Diet Coke, and Splenda Diet Coke.
In addition to plenty of water, of course, and some Simply Orange "Chunky Style" orange juice. :D
I've got enough sodeepop to last me at least 3 weeks! It's rigoddamndiculous, as John Wayne used to say.
So yeah, I've got what I need and I don't need to go out.
By the time Sunday Night rolls around, I want to have at least a dozen finished Memorial CD sets on my desk.

Happy Easter Weekend! (Where applicable)
Like we say in France, Joyeuses Paques!
