Bud Light and Clamato! Two great tastes that apparently taste great together! For somebody!
The can is labelled in English and Spanish.

Anybody know what this is all about?


Edit: Apparently, it's based on a Mexican drink called "Chelada".
Take a glass full of ice cubes, squeeze some lemons and/or limes in it, then pour a dark Mexican beer in there.
It's supposed to be very refreshing.

Anheuser/Busch decided to make its own version with Clamato, because they're insane.
They have two versions: Budweiser Chelada (red label) and Bud Light Chelada(blue label).
I call them both "ClamaBud".

ClamaBud is reviewed here. The first reviewer says:
"This is actually pretty tasty though and would be a good breakfast beer."
Hmmmmmmm, breakfast beer...

It's very simple: Mexicans, in an attempt to prove their "machismo," will drink anything if it has alcohol in it.

"Tequila and lark's vomit? OLE!"
"Mezcal and dog shit? UNO MAS!"

How they made the jump from "lemons and limes" to "Clamato" remains to be explained. Maybe they got a Deal on the clams.

Strangely, all the Mexicans I know who drink have gone into the grocery store, seen that concoction and gone "Ewwwww! What the fuck is THAT?!" I think this is actually marketed for the white folks... though I don't know *anyone* who has willingly swigged Clamato...

All my drinking Mexican friends also eschew Corona; if they're drinking Mexican beer it's Dos Equis or Negro Modelo. They refer to Corona as "piss water". XD

That's cause Corono is pisswater. Dos Equis is real beer. Every homeboy I knew drank Dos Equis. Only my uncle drank Corona, and he's a white boy.

Negro Modelo is one of the beers given as an example for making a 'real' Chelada.

I noticed the Clamabuds when a Latino woman put two cans on the counter at my local 7-11 and paid for them.
They're big ol' 24oz cans, you can't miss 'em!

What's next? PeptoBud? BudV8? BudSmoothie? SnapBud? SobeBud? Sheesh...
