Me brain hurts!!

Also: ack! Gack! Phftt!!

Things have been a little hectic this week.
Just various and sundry things at home and at work.
But nobody wants to be hear about that! Rrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiight?!???!??!?

So, without further ado (or "adieu" if you're an idiot), more movie movieness!

"Chicabaretgo": Néné Zeppelinger, Queen Fatima, Rich Hardgear, Katarina Zeta-Gundam.
In this charming remake/prequel/pastiche/crème brulée of the
classic Nazi masterpiece, some blonde flapper sans boobs decides she wanna be a big noise in the already pretty noisy Windy City.
So she ventilates her beau ("He had it coming") and cello! She's toasted! I mean, she's the toast of the town.

Okay, seriously, I understand why "Chicago" racked up all those Oscars and why people were buzzin' about it.
I mean, I'm not a big fan of musicals, though I do like a few of them (like "1776", "Westside Story",
"Singing In The Rain", and I'd probably like "The Producers" if I could get tickets), but I must say
that "Chicago" kicks all sorts of ass! Everybody does such a great job, I can't think of anything bad to say.
It's a timeless story of greed, sex, booze, media circus, and all sorts of fun stuff.
And the media circus angle seems the most relevant of all.
If you ain't seen it, and you dig the ol' Swing/Jazz groove like I do, then see it youse mugs!

"The Haunted Mansion" (Sony screening): Eddie Murphy, TERENCE STAMP!!, Jennifer Tilly.
What the hey, it was free! I saw it Tuesday night with my brother.
Directed by Robert Minkoff ("Stuart Little" 1 and 2 and that furry opus "The Lion King"), it's definitely family fare.
Eddie Murphy was not nearly as obnoxious as I thought he would be. I didn't know Terence Stamp was in it, so that was
a delightful surprise. After seeing "The Limey" and "Priscilla", Terence R0XX0RZ my S0XX0RZ! Jennifer Tilly was just about
perfect as the spooky head-in-the-crystal-ball fortune-teller. And the kids were pretty good, not saccharine at all.
The effects are really good, of course. One sequence gave me "Return To Castle Wolfenstein" flashbacks (crypt!!!).
Overall, it was a fun little movie. Don't bring the really young kids though, they might get scared.
(Not that I can tell these things, as I have no kids of my own)

Netflix stuff to be viewed:

"The Hunted", the heart-warming tale of a serial killer who kills deer hunters. Brother watched it and said it
was kinda gorey, with lots of knife-related mayhem. Ack. Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro (olé!!).

"The Siege", oh dear. I'll just excerpt the IMDB summary:
"After the abduction by the US military of an Islamic religious leader, New York City becomes the target of escalating
terrorist attacks. The head of the FBI's Counter-Intelligence Task Force in New York, teams up with a CIA operative to
hunt down the terrorist cells responsible for the attacks. As the bombings continue, the US government responds by
declaring martial law, sending US troops into the streets of New York City."
This came out in 1998. How now brown cow?

"Lupin III: Dragon of Doom", not received yet. A Lupin movie released in 2002. I hope it's good.

I must now go home and do laundry and pack for (K)FC!
I may or may not post again!
Ph34r!!
