It's going to be one of these days...

I got a call from Pascal at 7am.
The operation went so well that they're kicking him out of the hospital today at 1pm.
Instead of tomorrow afternoon. Which means I have to go over there and get him.
But that's not the enraging part. Though I don't know if it's healthy to kick him out that fast.
The enraging part is: I don't have a car. Also, I have to do this during work hours.
Which means I have to bus there and we have to take a taxi back.
I'm trying to rent a car but they've got nothing available right now.
I'm pretty sure renting a car for one day from our local little rental place is cheaper than
a taxi ride from the USC Med Center all the way home. And I would get back to work speedily.
This little miracle of getting a rental car has 15 minutes left to occur at this point.

My bank refused to credit me back some insufficient funds fees that were accrued from a one-day
credit hold on my debit card (loooooong story). They credited me for some of the fees, but not
all of them, eventhough they were all caused by the same thing. $66 in the crapper. (FLUSH!!!)
And this is after they told me yesterday to just call today and have these fees removed!
That's the really enraging part.

The lesser enraging parts include the air conditioning vents at work turning out to not being
open after all, all the fluorescent lights being turned on so it's now WAY too bright in here,
some ijits calling me at home and making me late for work (Lawrence Welk Resort? Wha??),
not having a toaster in the break room to handle the Friday Free Bagels...
Other little things, blah-blah-blah-blah...

Like I said, one of these days.

Hope your day is going better.

EDIT: Guns'N'Roses (not the actual company name) Rent-A-Car found me some wheels!
I'm going right now to pick it up! Woo hoo!!
Yea miracle!!

We did it! The brother from another planet is home!
He is feeling fine. His left arm will be in a sling for a couple of weeks.
There is susprisingly little scarring considering. The doctors said his skin was very flexible,
so they were able to simply pull it over the targeted area and stitch it up. No need for a skin graft.
He's got a couple of little bottles that collect excess fluids from the wound.
Those won't come off for a week of two. It will be my job to drain them. No biggie.
He's on antibiotics and vicadin. Hmmmmmm, druuuuuuuuuugs...
Overall, everything went really well.

I was able to get a rental car at the last minute and evac the sibling that way.
It took long enough that it was too late for me to go back to work. Oh well...
We had an early dinner at California Chicken Café, one of our favorite joints. We hadn't been there in ages.
I got my usual: Cobb salad, no green peppers, extra pita croutons, with thousand island. OMG YUM!!!
Pascal had his usual: half-chicken, all white meat, 2 sides. Then we had dessert at Penguin's.
We like frozen yogurt. I had pumpkin pie and Oreo cookies'n'cream. He had boring vanilla and chocolate.
And now, he's laying on my bed, playing "JakX Combat Racing" and learning the subtleties of deathmatching.
And I'm le tired and typing this...

Thank you all for the good wishes!
We are deeply appreciative.

Take care!
