Know your coldcuts!
So I stopped by a Vons (aka Safeway outside of L.A.) during lunch today to get some delicious Simply Lemonade
(OMGYUMMY) and a sandwich. I like sandwiches. I looked at the menu and picked something called a "Big Easy".
It's got black forest ham, salame, provolone, olives, mayo, lettuce and tomatoes.
I told the employee to hold the olives, since I despise them in all their forms.
She looked at her cheat sheet to see what was on the sandwich, then asked me what bread I wanted.
I picked some roll with cheese baked on top of it. She prepped the roll then looked at her cheat sheet again.
She spread the mayo, then placed the ham, then noticed she was out of salame. She went off to slice some.
Now, she walked all the way to the other end of the deli counter, so I didn't see what she was doing.
I waited, looking at the other sandwiches on the big sign...
The employee returned and arranged the freshly sliced coldcut on the sandwich.
It was roast beef.
I'm not even kidding!
She had very carefully sliced the required amount of roast beef instead of salame.
At this point, I said nothing. She was already confused enough as it is, constantly looking at both her cheat sheet
and the little menu booklet us customers used to choose a sandwich. I really didn't want her brain to short-circuit.
She finished up the sammich, bagged it, tagged it, gave it to me. I paid for it and the lemonade and left.
The sandwich was delicious, by the way.
Oy gevalt...
